Lower Litza – a fond reunion!

Today it was off to Litza with ASR veteran Richard and his friend Alex. A fantastic flight with the new Eurocopter, a precise landing on a small plot of grass – then the helicopter reared out from the cliff and disappeared. Amazing! The boys started fishing and it soon became clear that the morning’s highwater had brought in a lot of fish. Richard quickly caught a small salmon, and minutes later there was a new take. - Me too!, shouted Alex and soon two fish were being played at once. Two nice salmon at 9 kilos each, Alex landed his but Richard’s sadly took off just as I was about to tail it. Lots of fish of all sizes, but no more catches in Military. After a late lunch I went over to the west side of the Snowbank, tackled the 14,8 Reaction and after only a dozen casts a fish hooked on. A completely insane fish at 10 kilos came loose just as it was to be landed. Awesome experience – it was everywhere at once! I caught a nice one at 8 kilos in Military and thought back to the day two years ago and my impressive catch of 19,2 kilos (42 lbs). After dinner demonstrated tying some flies. Some of the interested fly tiers in the group hunched over my vice – a nice evening! In total the group has now caught around sixty salmon, three weighing more than 15 kilos, and spirits are high!
