SALAR Reels
WILD SALMON SERIES
For Free Rivers & Wild Fish
The Wild Salmon Series of reels is a very special project to us – created to be a trademark of wild fish conservation and sustainability. Every reel contributes to preserving wild salmon for future generations, allowing thousands of wild salmon to reach the rivers to spawn. These reels are crafted to stand out, featuring the iconic jumping salmon on the sleek black side plates and cut-out salmon shapes in the reel foot. The addition of genuine copper details, which will develop a rich patina over time, gives each reel a rugged, classic style. The reels are equipped with an improved disc drag system and a versatile clicker, letting you fish in stealth mode and still enjoy the exhilarating sound of a great salmon making a run downstream. We believe this series will become one of the most collectable modern salmon reels ever made. Fish them with pride and help save thousands of wild salmon!

SAVING WILD SALMON WITH
THE BALTIC SALMON FUND
The SALAR Wild Salmon Series is an initiative dedicated to saving as many wild salmon as possible by generating funds to combat commercial overfishing. Frödinflies will donate 500.000 SEK (approx. €45.000) to The Baltic Salmon Fund, earmarked for the removal of over 100 salmon traps along the northern Baltic coastline. This is estimated to save thousands of wild salmon. Wild stocks of Baltic salmon have been rapidly declining in recent years, and the quickest way to preserve these fish and increase the number of fish on the spawning grounds is to stop the killing of wild salmon on their journey to the rivers.
We are a small company, and this is a significant step for us as we take responsibility for this sacred species that forms the foundation of everything we do. For us, it’s about recognising our role in nature and taking action where it’s needed most. We hope this initiative sparks a larger, necessary change, encouraging others in the industry to use their resources to secure a future for wild fish ecosystems.
The Baltic Salmon Fund
The purpose of The Baltic Salmon Foundation is to promote a long-term sustainable management of wild salmon and trout stocks in the Baltic Sea and its waters.
The foundation’s vision is to regain self-reproducing stocks in the original salmon and trout rivers of the Baltic Sea. Strong stocks provide attractive sport fishing and create the conditions for job opportunities through developed fishing tourism.
What The Baltic Salmon Fund does:
- Primarily, leasing fishing grounds to remove traps and fishing gear, 2011 there were 643 traps and in 2021 there are 281 traps.
- Involved in a number of organisations and associations to promote the vision of a healthy living Baltic Sea.
- Educating and lecturing about wild salmon, wild trout and our sensitive ecosystem.
-
Cooperating with Sweden’s administrative organisations.
The Swedish King, HM King Carl XVI Gustaf, is the patron of The Baltic Sea Salmon Foundation.
“From The Baltic Salmon Fund, we are extremely grateful for the support we are now receiving for Baltic salmon. The weak return of salmon to our rivers and streams in recent years makes our work more important than ever. These funds enable us to step up our efforts to reduce the number of salmon traps along our coasts, which currently threaten several of our wild salmon stocks. They also allow us, as a significant force backed by all the management organisations of the Baltic rivers, to continue our work influencing decision-makers to stop the unsustainable fishing of herring and sprat, which is devastating the entire Baltic Sea ecosystem.
Frödinflies’ initiative gives us hope. We hope that more companies, dependent on a healthy sea and the presence of salmon and trout in our rivers and streams for future generations, will follow suit and support our ongoing work.”
