Kharlovka ASR, 2. report

Sunday

We woke up to the most amazing weather imaginable. 20 degrees at 7 am in the morning and a blue bird day – simply fantastic! We, i.e. my team mate Harald and I, started in Barrel and then fished our way downstream to the ocean. After some kelt I had the first real take with an ensuing 70 yards fierce run, I was in business. A hard fight ensued and I landed a 98 cm beauty, sea-liced and all – nice! I had another good take in Barrel. I was fishing with my 14,8 Reaction rod and a 1/3/5; my gear has still not arrived. If I am lucky it will get here Monday evening. The afternoon didn’t produce anything in Julian’s besides a wonderful 2 hour nap in the grass. After lunch it was finally time for fishing in Home Pool. My favorite pool here in Kharlovka. Perfect conditions and 2 hours yielded 2 salmon for me. Both sea-liced. I was fishing a new variant of a Black Doctor Flash, a white top wing gave named it “Zebra”. The salmon fought well in the relatively warm water; 9 degrees is probably almost perfect for a good fight! The first complete day produced 2 x 9 kilo salmon and a good 5 kilo one – it is great to be back. Tomorrow we are fishing the world’s best salmon river – the Litza!
