Friday - a fantastic last day!
Bright sunshine from a clear blue sky, 25 degrees this morning. Today was a summer day that really was for completely different things than to fish for salmon. I went to lower Kharlovka with the Austrians Robert and Franz. Nice guys, but with a language it is curious how anyone can understand. Well, just had to pick up my school German and it went as a dance! We started in Marks Pocket which should be good. They fished through with the whole fly box – fast flies and straight fine casts that should have given fish. It was not until Robert Hitched a small Sunray as the take came. A nice 12 lbs silver and all smiled in the sun. Then Barell Pool where the guys on the micro flies landed 4 more nice fresh salmon. A great result in the sunlight. After lunch I walked down to Rock Pool for my own fishing. I started with my 12.5 foot Lxi, floating line and a small micro Dee Sheep. A big downstream belly and super fast fly gave me four salmon. 3 grilse and a fine sea liced 16 lbs - lovely. I decided not to change the pool but went with a hiched simple fly. Quickly got a grilse and then it all exploded in et violent take. 100 meter run and a salmon fight to dream about. In came a fantastic sea liced male at approximately 9 kilos - wow! The day ended with another grilse. 8 salmon and another couple of pulls and swirling options and that in 3 hours! Absolutely stunning end to a week with both many and large salmon. The evening mingle with the guides were as nice as ever. This is truly an amazing place on earth!
