Monday

Another nice day... nice that is for everything except fishing! Brilliant sunshine and 25-28 degrees, and the water temperature has now risen from 14 to 19 degrees in a matter of days! Difficult conditions, but the camp managed to take more than 20 salmon and grilse with a peak of about 8 kilos - not bad given the circumstances. The best method was probably small, fast fishing tubes and small tubes hitched at record speed! My own time was mostly spent coaching and photographing flies, butI managed to get 2 hours with a floating line and one-handed. A little Dee Sheep gave me a nice small salmon, a missed 6-7 kg and tug at the line too. Good activity, after all! Now, it seems, the fly’s speed is critical. If you dare to fish quickly you get fish!
