Bolstad 2024 – Holding On to a Legacy

Bolstad, long known as the home of the big fish, has faced a worrying decline. Year after year, fewer of the powerful multi-sea-winter salmon return to its legendary pools. 2024 marked the toughest season yet. We've fished the opening days here for nearly 20 years—some seasons bringing unforgettable catches. This year, the conditions were challenging, and the run of fish was perhaps the smallest we've seen. To protect this unique salmon stock, the narrow fjord must be freed from open net pens before it’s too late. If we don’t act now, short-sighted profit will continue to threaten one of Norway’s most iconic salmon rivers. The future of Bolstad—and the wild salmon—depends on it.
