PM #48 – Akroyd Spey
This is one of Mikael’s absolute favourites among the old classic Spey and Dee flies. Already in the early 80s, he had good catches on both Dee strip-winged versions and this one, with a little cinnamon-colored hair wing tied in flat over the mobile heron-hackled body. This classic fly features humus colours, and perhaps that’s one of the reasons it's been so effective on our Baltic rivers and Norwegian rivers running through forested country. We love both the classic approach and the sweeping heron hackles – it's no wonder this fly is still frequently found at the end of our leaders.
