Christian Lindström

BÅSTAD, SWEDEN

Christian is born and raised in Sweden and is now living on the south west coast. He has fished for salmon and sea trout for 20 years with a fly rod. His extensive experience partly comes from 10 full seasons as a salmon/sea trout guide, on the Gaula, Russian Ponoi and currently on Olderø fly fishing lodge, Lakselva. Christian also spent six years at Wittlock Sportfiske, one of Swedens most iconic fly fishing shops. A shop that just breaths salmon and sea trout.

He Loves simplifying salmon fishing and salmon behavior, this when others seem to do the direct opposite. It’s simply about outsmarting a fish and you don't have to make it that complicated. Even following guidelines that has been around for 200 years or more, you will catch fish. But even then, right place, right time and right fly is always the winner, and make you catch more fish.

As a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to fly patterns, Christians says:
– If it works why change it? Having said that there are flies that needs to be in the box. A Green Highlander version is a must have. Same with Dee Sheep in everything from 16 cm down to 2.5 cm, that fly will catch fish year around worldwide. Throw in something as Sunrays or Samurais in different sizes and a Phatakorva/Temple Dog/T&L kind of fly for humus coloured rivers and you are on the right track.
